Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest
3,800 acres of virgin hardwood
forest, established 1936 in honor
of Joyce Kilmer, journalist, poet,
WWI soldier killed in action. Best
known for his poem "Trees". Some
trees 20 ft. in diameter at base. Part
of Joyce Kilmer - Slickrock
Wilderness area. Can only be seen
on foot.
